A 70-year-old woman walking in a crosswalk across Old Redwood Highway suffered major injuries Sunday morning when she was struck by an SUV, according to Windsor police.

The woman remained hospitalized Monday with critical injuries, Windsor Sgt. James Percy said. Her name wasn’t released by police.

About 9 a.m. she was walking north across Old Redwood Highway at Alden Lane when she was hit by a Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Arnulfo Rivera, 63, turning from Alden onto eastbound Old Red.

Multiple people called 911 to report the collision.

The area where the crash occurred is on a busy stretch of Old Redwood Highway near Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.

Percy asked witnesses to contact Windsor Deputy Don Fletcher at 707-838-1234.
