October fire victims who lost bicycles have a chance for a new one Sunday at a giveaway in Sonoma of some 700 bikes sponsored by businesses and firefighting agencies.

The 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. event will be at 21481 Eighth St.

The group gave away about 550 bikes two weeks ago in Santa Rosa, said Mike Coleman, a firefighting engineer for Southern Marin fire district who helped organize the event.

Go to the Southern Marin Fire Facebook page here to print out a brief form for the event. Proof of address must be presented on-site.

As well as bikes for children and adults, helmets and water bottles will be given.

Participating agencies include Sonoma Valley Fire, Cal Fire, Mill Valley and Southern Marin Fire, as well as numerous businesses.

See A Mountain Lion?

Do not approach mountain lions. If you see one, do not run, crouch or turn your back. If necessary, make noise, try to look bigger by waving your arms or opening your jacket. Prevention is key, but if attacked, fight back.

Call 911 if there is an active threat.

Wildlife sightings can be reported to the Department of Fish and Wildlife by phone at 707-528-2002 or online at apps.wildlife.ca.gov/wir.
