Clothing giveaway for displaced families, others in need in Santa Rosa

Devastation from the fires of October prompted Kevin Corrigan, a former Santa Rosan now living in San Diego, to ask friends in Southern California to donate clothing and other items for people who lost their homes.

The response was startling.

Corrigan thought he might gather enough donations to fill a car. Instead, he had to rent a truck.

On Saturday, he and friend Kelly Schuetz, a fourth-grade teacher at J.X. Wilson School, will head up a free distribution at the school on Brittain Lane.

Corrigan and Schuetz invite people chased from their homes by the fires, and anyone else in need, to come and look for things they could use.

The distribution is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 246 Brittain Lane, Santa Rosa.
