Santa Rosa firefighters extinguished two blazes early Sunday morning at a home and a McDonald’s in the northwestern part of the city.

Shortly after 1:30 a.m., firefighters responded to a reported structure fire on Ridley Avenue, where they saw smoke inside and outside a two-story house. Once inside, they found a fire in the wall next to a fireplace that had burned through outdoor siding by the home’s chimney, according to the Santa Rosa Fire Department.

Firefighters determined the origin of the blaze, which caused an estimated $20,000 in damage, was related to heat from the fireplace. Neither of the home’s two occupants, who were outside when firefighters arrived, was injured.

Later Sunday morning, Santa Rosa firefighters responded shortly after 4:40 a.m. to a reported fire at a Guerneville Road McDonald’s, the fire department said. Smoke was seen coming from the restaurant’s roof, and after entering the building, they found a fire burning kitchen cooking equipment, according to the department.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the kitchen fire and flames in the fryer’s hood system.

The cause of the fire, which caused an estimated $50,000 in damage, is still under investigation. No one was injured.
