Two local school districts made it onto the College Board’s Eighth annual AP District Honor Roll.

Roseland Public Schools and Cotati-Rohnert Park Unified were among 447 school districts across the U.S. and Canada to be recognized for boosting underrepresented students’ access to Advanced Placement classes while maintaining or improving the rate of students who earned a 3 or higher on the AP exam. The tests are scored on a scale of 1 to 5.

The College Board, which administers the AP exams, looked at data from 2015 to 2017 for the honor roll.

Cotati-Rohnert Park Unified Superintendent Robert Haley said this week the district’s high schools actively seek out and encourage students to enroll in the college-level courses. Roseland Public Schools Superintendent Amy Jones-Kerr learned just before the winter break about the district making the honor roll, which she said acknowledges the staff and students’ hard work.

The two districts are among 34 in the state that made the list.
