Santa Rosa Junior College police arrested a Rohnert Park resident on suspicion of burglary earlier this week after an alert police cadet spotted him scaling a campus building.
SRJC police officials said the cadet noticed Laurence Patrick Buckley, 26, climbing onto the roof of Call Hall at about 11 p.m. Wednesday. The cadet notified dispatch and SRJC police officers were sent to investigate.
Buckley, who was seen walking on the roof of the building, at first refused to come down.
When he finally complied, police searched him and found he was in possession of several new “office supplies.”
Lt. Robert Brownlee said the man was found with blue marking pens, Elmer’s glue sticks, a small notebook, clear tape and lithium batteries.
Further investigation revealed that several windows on the Call Hall building had been tampered with and rooms inside were ransacked.
The items found on Buckley were taken from a storage cabinet in the building, police said.
Buckley was booked into Sonoma County Jail.
Aside from the burglary offense, Buckley faces several other possible charges, including resisting arrest, vandalism and violating probation for a prior drug possession conviction.
