Santa Rosa police have reopened a stretch of Petaluma Hill Road that was closed for about an hour early Wednesday afternoon due to a fluid spill from a garbage truck.

The truck’s hydraulic fluid line broke, leaving an 800-foot spill along Petaluma Hill Road and another 400 feet on Frazier Avenue, said Santa Rosa fire Battalion Chief Ken Sebastiani.

Police warned of long delays for drivers in the area and recommended other routes.

Firefighters were used absorbent material to soak up the fluid, which didn’t reach storm drains, Sebastiani said.
