Bay Area school bus driver suspected of abusing special needs student

VACAVILLE - Police in the San Francisco Bay Area say they arrested a school bus driver after she forcibly removed a special needs student who did not want to get off the bus.

The Vacaville Police Department said officers arrested 64-year-old Kim Klopson after reviewing bus surveillance video that showed the abuse of the second-grader at Browns Valley Elementary.

Authorities said the Vacaville Unified School District contacted police last week to report the incident and fired Klopson.

Klopson was arrested on charges of felony child abuse and booked into Solano County Jail.

Vacaville police Lt. Mark Donaldson tells KCRA-TV the footage, which won't be released, shows the child was terrified, crying and begging the bus driver to stop.

It was not immediately known if Klopson has an attorney. A telephone listed for her is disconnected.
