Minor Santa Rosa crash causes major Highway 101 traffic snarl

Two vehicles crashed on Highway 101 in Santa Rosa Wednesday morning blocking two lanes and causing traffic to stack up in both directions for miles, according to the CHP.

The southbound crash near Corby Avenue in southbound lanes occurred about 7:30 a.m. and left the carpool and middle lanes blocked for about 30 minutes, said CHP Officer Steve Fricke.

Traffic initially snarled back to Airport Boulevard in northern Santa Rosa. But northbound traffic also slowed to a crawl due to drivers looking at the collision aftermath.

No one was injured but a traffic alert was issued to warn drivers about the travel delay through the city. Almost two hours after the crash the commute still was attempting to recover, Fricke said.
