Free passes to redwood state parks available online Saturday

Free passes to visit ?46 redwood state parks on March 10, including seven parks in Sonoma County, will be available online starting at 8 a.m. today.

The giveaway is part of the Free Second Saturdays program sponsored by California State Parks and Save the Redwoods League to celebrate the league’s 100-year effort to preserve the state’s iconic redwood forests.

The passes, which are limited in number and invariably taken quickly, are available on a first-come, first-served basis at FreeRedwoodsDays.org. They cover day-use admission and parking fees for one vehicle, but do not guarantee a parking space if the park is crowded.

Armstrong Redwoods, Austin Creek, Fort Ross, Jack London, Kruse Rhododendron, Salt Point and Sonoma Coast are parks, reserves and recreation areas on the list in Sonoma County.
