An investigation into the cause of a Rohnert Park mobile home fire remained inconclusive but firefighters found an overloaded electrical outlet near the fire’s start in a bathroom, according to a city fire official.

The home on Rancho Verde Circle caught fire Sunday afternoon after residents had left for an outing. Firefighters from three agencies responded and stopped the blaze from consuming the home — a good save because mobile homes tend to burn rapidly, according to fire officials.

Flames damaged three rooms of the double wide home, and heat and smoke damaged the remainder. But belongings were saved in much of the home, said Rohnert Park fire Commander Mike Bates. He said damage was estimated at $30,000.

The Red Cross was helping three residents with temporary shelter.
