Police say a 13-year-old boy has confessed to scrawling a violent threat inside a bathroom at Willowside Middle School earlier this week.

The boy, whose name was not released, was identified by detectives from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office after the threat prompted faculty to alert parents and send students home from school Tuesday.

In a news release, the department said the boy’s parents were “instrumental in the investigation and are holding him accountable.”

The boy was released to his parents, and the matter is being referred to the District Attorney’s juvenile division for possible charges, the release said.
