Foggy weather and slick roads resulted in two injury crashes Sunday morning on Highway 101.
A woman was taken with minor injuries to Kaiser Permanente in Santa Rosa after her Toyota Corolla hit a northbound highway center divide near West Sierra Avenue in Cotati, CHP Officer Ken Enger said. Minutes later, a man was injured in a separate hit-and-run accident in the southbound lane of the highway just south of Highway 12, Enger said.
The first crash happened around 7:30 a.m. After slamming into the center divide, the car veered off to the right, hitting another concrete wall, Rancho Abode Fire Capt. Tim Caldwell said.
Enger said the second accident happened just before 8 a.m. The driver, who was taken by ambulance to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with minor injuries, was merging onto south 101 from Highway 12 when another motorist slammed into him, causing both vehicles to spin. The motorist who slammed into him then fled, Enger said.
The crash briefly blocked part of the highway, he said. It remains under investigation.
