Teen struck by car in Windsor

A 19-year-old man was struck and seriously injured as he tried to cross Old Redwood Highway in a commercial district.|

A 19-year-old Windsor man was hospitalized in stable condition Saturday, a day after he was seriously injured when he was struck in a crosswalk on Old Redwood Highway on the southeastern edge of the town’s commercial ?district.

It appeared Jose Mata Rodriguez, 19, was walking north across ?the roadway at Third Street when a southbound Ford Mustang hit him around ?3:55 p.m. Friday, police said.

The driver, Tyler Peterson, 19, also of Windsor, stopped right afterward and remained at the scene, police said. Rodriguez was treated at the site of the crash and taken by ambulance to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.

The crash closed the road for more than ?30 minutes and caused a significant backup in the area. Any witnesses who have not already been interviewed by police are asked to call Officer Don Fletcher at 707-838-1234.
