Suspicious man tried to get kids into his car by Petaluma school, police say

Police are stepping up patrols around the school in response to the report.|

A suspicious older man in a candy apple red Honda Civic attempted to get children into his car Thursday afternoon outside Petaluma Junior High School, police said.

Petaluma police received a call around 3:10 p.m. about a man who appeared to call out to a kid with the intention of getting the child inside the car, authorities said in a statement.

The man was described as 38 to 54 years old, 5 foot 10 inches and around 210 pounds wearing a blue shirt and sunglasses, police said.

Petaluma police announced extra patrols around the school to ensure the safety of students.
