Man dies after being rescued from Napa River

Police say a witness saw a man acting erratically before jumping into the river and swimming east toward the Oxbow Preserve on Saturday evening.|

NAPA - Napa officials say a man died after being pulled out of the Napa River.

Napa Police Sgt. Todd Shulman says a witness saw a man acting erratically before jumping into the river and swimming east toward the Oxbow Preserve on Saturday evening.

The Napa Valley Register reports the witness later called police to report that the man was swimming in the river again and shouting.

Capt. Ty Becerra says they used a rescue boat to reach the man.

Emergency responders performed CPR on the man and took him to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Officials say the man's identity was not immediately available Sunday, and no identification was found on him.
