YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK - Two men died after falling while climbing El Capitan at Yosemite National Park, officials said.

Jason Wells, 46, of Boulder, Colorado, and Tim Klien, 42, of Palmdale were climbing the Freeblast Route when they fell about 8 a.m., the National Park Service said.

Park rangers and search and rescue personnel responded, but the climbers didn’t survive the fall.

This is the second fatal incident in Yosemite National Park in a little over a week.

Last week, a hiker fell to his death while climbing the iconic granite cliffs of Half Dome in rainy conditions.
