A Ukiah man remained in custody Tuesday on suspicion of attempted murder after deputies said he stabbed his uncle in the back multiple times.

Harley James Patton, 25, stabbed his 70-year-old uncle with a kitchen knife after an argument broke out around 7:20 p.m. June 6 in a small trailer on the 700 block of Lake Mendocino Drive in Ukiah, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office said. Deputies found his uncle on the driveway with life-threatening wounds. He was airlifted to an out-of-county hospital.

Patton was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and elder abuse with great bodily injury, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

He was held at Mendocino County Jail in lieu of a $200,000 bond.
