A semi-truck carrying biodiesel injured three people in a rollover crash Monday on Highway 1 in Gualala, according to CHP-Ukiah area.

Around 2:41 p.m. Monday, Edward Grace, 64, Santa Cruz, was driving a freightliner truck northbound on Highway 1, just north of Iversen Road, when he lost control of his truck for an unknown reason and rolled east, then northwest into the southbound lane, according to a release.

Victor Lara, 20, of Gualala, was driving southbound on Highway 1 in a Honda Civic with Ana Lisa Rea, 17, when he turned to avoid collision with the truck, the release said.

The Honda Civic and the truck rolled into a ditch west of Highway 1. The Honda landed on its roof, and the truck landed on the driver's side, says CHP.

The Redwood Empire Hazardous Incident Team transferred the biodiesel into a supplemental tank supplied by Redwood Coast Fuels.

Lara and Rea were taken to the Redwood Coast Medical Services for minor injuries. Grace was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for moderate injuries.

Alcohol was not a factor, says CHP.
