A 64-year-old Upper Lake man was arrested Thursday morning in connection with the death of his wife, officials said.

Lake County sheriff’s officials had been searching for William “Bill” Henry after family members found the body of Cindi Henry, 51, in her Elliot Street home Monday. Officials said the death was suspicious and an autopsy performed on Wednesday found that she had died of “mechanical asphyxiation,” according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office.

Her death was ruled a homicide.

At 9 a.m. Thursday, the Sheriff’s Office received a tip that Henry was at his residence in Upper Lake. Deputies went to the home and took Henry into custody without incident, officials said. He was booked into the Lake County Jail on a charge of murder. Bail was set at $1 million.
