Three people suffered major injuries in a drunken driving crash on Highway 1 south of Fort Bragg, the CHP said Tuesday.

CHP officers arrested Richard Hall, a 64‑year‑old Fort Bragg man on suspicion of driving drunk and causing a head‑on collision. The crash happened about 12:15 p.m. Saturday near Jug Handle Creek Bridge.

The suspect was driving a 2003 Saturn north on the highway at about 60 mph when the car crossed into the southbound lane and struck a 2013 Ford driven by a 47-year-old Napa woman, CHP said. She and a male passenger, 47, of Napa, were taken to Mendocino Coast District Hospital in Fort Bragg. The CHP didn’t release their names, saying the report remained incomplete and the officer involved was on his days off.

Hall was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.
