RENO, Nev. - Two Santa Rosa men who made off with only about $100 in a botched robbery at Reno convenience store have been sentenced to more than 12 years in prison.

A federal jury found 28-year-old Connor Woods and 31-year-old Michael Miller guilty of robbery, conspiracy and weapon charges in March. Judge Howard McKibben sentenced the two men on Tuesday.

Prosecutors say Woods entered a 7-Eleven in south Reno with a semi-automatic handgun in November 2016 and demanded cash from the register and slot machine drawers.

They say the clerk tried to grab the gun. It fell to the floor and the clerk then threw a cash drawer at Woods, who fled in a mini-van driven by Miller.

Prosecutors say Woods confessed after Reno police found the vehicle abandoned on the side of Interstate 80 a few days later.
