A Clearlake man sparked a fire at an abandoned building Monday evening while smoking meth inside, police said.

Jason Olson, 19, was arrested by Clearlake police officers while walking behind the Clearlake Safeway Tuesday morning, after he matched a witness’s description of a man leaving the abandoned building the day before. Olson admitted to officers to “accidentally starting the fire” while smoking methamphetamine inside the building, the Clearlake Police Department said.

He was booked into Lake County Jail on suspicion of unlawfully causing a fire.
