A pedestrian struck and killed by a motorcyclist on River Road has been identified as James Cullen Greer, 70, of Guerneville, Sonoma County sheriff’s officials said Thursday.

Greer was trying to cross the main road that follows the Russian River when he was hit by an oncoming motorcycle about 1:55 p.m. Tuesday near Orchard Road in Guerneville, according to the CHP.

The motorcyclist, Geno Quecke, 28, of Petaluma, hit his brakes and swerved in an attempt to avoid hitting Greer but collided with him, CHP officials said.

Greer was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, where he died of his injuries. Quecke also was taken to the Santa Rosa hospital with minor to moderate injuries.
