Prince Louis and royal family smile big in christening portraits

Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, have released four official portraits taken after last week's ceremony.|

The christening of Britain's Prince Louis last week came with a lovely batch of formal family portraits - and a bonus candid showcasing the 2-month-old's gummy smile.

Parents Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, released four official portraits Sunday taken after the ceremony by photographer Matt Holyoak.

Then, on Monday, the palace shared a bright bonus image taken by Matt Porteous featuring the wee royal, who is fifth in line to the British throne, and his mother. Porteous previously photographed the couple's first-born son, Prince George, on his third birthday.

“The Duke and Duchess hope that everyone enjoys this lovely photograph of Prince Louis as much as they do,” the palace tweeted.

The varied portraits feature the Cambridge five - Wills and Kate and their children, Prince George, 4, Princess Charlotte, 3, and Prince Louis - in coordinating shades of blue and cream.

Another image shows them flanked by Louis' paternal grandfather, Prince Charles, and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall; uncle Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex; his maternal grandparents, Carole and Michael Middleton; aunt Pippa Matthews and her husband, James Matthews; and uncle James Middleton.

The formal portraits were taken in the Morning Room at Clarence House after Prince Louis' baptism in the Chapel Royal at St. James' Palace. Other images were taken in the Clarence House garden.

William and Catherine chose Holyoak based on his work photographing Queen Elizabeth II and her husband, Prince Philip, last year on their 70th wedding anniversary, the Mirror reported. The queen and her husband were traveling last week and did not attend the baptism.
