Firefighters continued to encircle the Steele fire burning in Napa County, reporting 90 percent containment as of Monday night, according to Cal Fire.

The fire, which broke out Saturday afternoon, had threatened a densely populated rural subdivision on the south shore of Lake Berryessa. It destroyed eight buildings and damaged four.

Fire officials scaled back the size of the fire to 135 acres, down from initial estimates of 150 acres. Firefighters were released to battle other fires burning in the region, reducing the number of people assigned to the blaze from 185 to 70.

Evacuation orders for much of Berryessa Highlands were lifted Sunday night.
