Two big rig crashes caused major traffic problems on Sonoma County roads Monday.

A semitrailer toting an excavator hit a Highway 101 overpass in Windsor around 12:25 p.m., blocking southbound lanes at Shiloh Road for more than two hours, according to initial CHP reports. One lane was cleared within 30 minutes, but the other two weren’t cleared until about 2:30 p.m.

Minutes after that accident, a big rig headed east on Porter Creek Road partially overturned, blocking the eastbound lane, according to initial CHP reports. That 12:45 p.m. crash happened just east of Loch Haven Drive.

Porter Creek Road is a major rural route connecting northern Santa Rosa and Calistoga and is heavily used during the morning and afternoon commute.

There were no reported injuries in either crash.
