MODESTO - An Ambert Alert was issued Monday as authorities searched for a young boy they say was abducted by his father in Modesto earlier in the day.

Jayce Cosso, 6, was last seen wearing a black Transformers T-shirt and faded green camouflage shorts.

Modesto police told KCRA that Jayce's father, 41-year-old John Cosso, went to the boy's home on Poinsettia Drive with five other people and used pepper spray to force his way inside.

Jayce's mother tried to flee with the boy in her car, but the car Cosso arrived in blocked her in, according to the news station.

“Jayce was so scared, and he said, ‘Please no, daddy. I don't like you. You're not my friend,' as he was pulled out of the car,” the victim's aunt, Vanessa Valente, told KCRA.

Cosso's vehicle was described as a black 2012 Ford Fusion, California license plate no. 8BDY654.

Anyone with information about Cosso's whereabouts can call Crime Stoppers at 209-521-4636 or 209-552-2470.
