Deputies arrived and found a white pickup truck had hit the back of a white sedan, which had two occupants, and then struck the power pole head on, damaging the front of the truck and deploying its airbags.

The truck driver and sedan occupants were not injured.

Deputies noticed the pickup driver, later identified as Daniel Ramirez, 35, was showing signs of being intoxicated as he spoke. Officials conducted a DUI investigation and then detained Ramirez.

Ramirez’s preliminary blood alcohol content was 0.178%, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08%, Toney said.

Ramirez was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County jail on suspicion of driving under the influence and driving under the influence with a BAC greater than 0.08%.

As of Thursday morning he was no longer in custody, according to jail representatives.
