Three injured in Napa County crash

CHP investigators suspect the driver of a SUV headed into the path of an oncoming Cal Fire pickup after taking a curve too fast.|

Three people were injured in a collision on Highway 29 in Napa County Thursday involving a South Lake County Fire/Cal Fire utility pickup and a SUV that reportedly took a curve too fast, CHP officials said.

The passenger in a GMC Jimmy was flown to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with major injuries and the driver was taken by ambulance to Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa with moderate injuries, CHP Officer Cruz Correa said. The Cal Fire employee driving the truck was taken to St. Helena Hospital in Clearlake with minor injuries.

The two-vehicle crash occurred at about 1:30 p.m. on Highway 29 near Robert Louis Stevenson State Park. Investigators suspect the driver of the southbound GMC was traveling too fast when entering a curve and lost control, Correa said.

The GMC veered into the northbound lane and into the path of the Cal Fire pickup. The pickup broadsided the GMC, crashing into its passenger side, Correa said.

The identities of the people involved were not available Thursday.
