Historic Marin County mansion sells for $47.5 million

BELVEDERE — A 19th century Marin County mansion has sold for $47.5 million.

The Marin Independent Journal reported (http://bayareane.ws/1IoXuG2) the sale of Locksley Hall in Belvedere on Thursday.

The 12,000-square-foot mansion is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was built in 1895 and boasts bronze gates designed by Hearst Castle architect Julia Morgan.

It sits on more than an acre with views of San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge and Angel Island.

The buyer's identity was not immediately known.
