BERKELEY - Police have identified two people found dead in their Berkeley apartment, along with two dead cats.

The couple's cause of death has not yet been identified.

Berkeley Police spokesman Officer Byron White says 35-year-old Roger Morash and his wife, 32-year-old Valerie Morash were found dead in the apartment Monday. Officials say an autopsy scheduled for Tuesday or Wednesday will determine how they died.

Berkeley police were called to the scene after a friend went to check on the couple and discovered one of the bodies.

Police later found the second body and two cat dead cats.

Deputy Fire Chief Dave Brannigan says firefighters, a Pacific Gas & Electric crew and members of a hazardous-materials team ruled out hazardous causes, including carbon monoxide poisoning.
