The Monterey Bay Whale Watch has captured some fantastic footage that has stunned biologists and whale watchers alike.

Captured via drone, the footage shows an unusually large group of killer whales devouring the body of a gray whale.

According to Monterey Bay Whale Watch, this is the "first ever video of Mammal Hunting (Transient) Killer Whales feeding on a Gray Whale carcass from a drone." The group first encountered the killer whales feeding on Thursday, April 20, and were amazed to see the orcas still feeding 35 hours later. This video was captured around 5:30 p.m. on Friday, April 21.

Last year, a whale watcher captured video of 8-10 killer whales swarming a pod of around 1,000 dolphins in Monterey Bay. The orcas travel through Northern California waters this time of year to hunt migrating baby gray whales.
