MORAGA - Authorities in the San Francisco Bay Area say skeleton remains found by a hiker have been identified as a man missing for nearly two decades.

The East Bay Times reports (http://bayareane.ws/2vEkPFg) officials say a DNA test revealed the remains belonged to 37-year-old Richard Allen Saimons, who was reported missing on Aug. 2, 1998.

Moraga police Chief Jon King says a hiker found the remains on March 16 in an open space in Moraga.

Saimons' family says he had gone hiking and didn't return home.

An autopsy found no signs of foul play and did not initially yield a cause of death.
