Fire closes southbound Highway 101 in Marin County

The Tuesday fires also prompted evacuations in Sausalito.|

All but one lane of southbound Highway 101 were closed Tuesday at Spencer Avenue in Marin County as crews battled two separate brush fires near the highway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The blazes were first reported at 11: 58 a.m. and shut down the freeway for more than an hour.

The Wolfback Ridge neighborhood of Sausalito was evacuated for a time but the order was lifted about 1:20 p.m.

CHP has no estimate on when the highway will reopen completely.
