Santa Rosa police reported arresting five suspected drunken drivers in a weekend checkpoint in east Santa Rosa.

As well as the five, who were taken to the Sonoma County Jail, they found 27 drivers were behind the wheel who either weren’t licensed or had licenses that were suspended or revoked, said Santa Rosa Sgt. Mike Numainville. The drivers arrested on the lesser charges were released with citations.

Two others passing through the Highway 12 checkpoint were wanted on warrants and taken into custody.

The checkpoint was held from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Highway 12, just east of Brush Creek Road.

The drunken driving suspects included three men and two women, from 21- to 74 years, with four from Santa Rosa and one from Angwin.
