Police arrest 2 in west Santa Rosa shooting

Two Santa Rosa men police believe to be gang members face multiple felony charges Saturday after a shooting that wounded one near Live Oak Park on Friday night, according to the Santa Rosa Police Department.

Sean McCarthy Jr., 18, and David Conley, 20, have both been booked into the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, active gang participation, committing a crime in association with a criminal street gang and violating probation, police said.

Police were dispatched to the area near Darla Drive and Tracy Avenue in west Santa Rosa at 6:48 p.m. and located one gunshot victim, whose injury was not life-threatening, according to a news release. Authorities are not releasing the victim’s name at this time due to the nature of the crime and the ongoing investigation, the release said.

A perimeter was established, and the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office provided aerial support with the Henry 1 helicopter, but the suspects were not immediately located, the release said.

By Saturday afternoon, detectives had identified and located two Santa Rosa men suspected in connection with the shooting near the intersection of Cleveland Avenue and State Farm Drive, police said in a subsequent news release.

After the men drove away from the area in separate vehicles, police pulled them over in what authorities termed “high-risk traffic stops” before arresting both men without incident, police said.
