A Cloverdale man who the Sonoma County Sheriff’s office is calling a “serial car thief,” was arrested Monday for the third time in less than a month on suspicion of car theft or being in possession of a stolen vehicle.

Alejandro Murillo, 23, was booked in Sonoma County Jail on $50,000 bail after he was arrested early Monday on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle and other stolen property, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

He was arrested on the 26000 block of Asti Road in Cloverdale by the detectives of the Sheriff’s property crimes division, the Cloverdale Police Department and CHP.

Detectives said Murillo had property in his possession that had been stolen from several businesses in Cloverdale in recent weeks. In addition, a vehicle parked in front of the house where Murillo was arrested was found to have been taken from a residential burglary in Geyserville.

During the investigation, detectives said they learned that Murillo had been arrested both July 29 in Ukiah and Aug. 4 in Modesto on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information regarding Murillo to contact Detective Donald Fletcher at 565-2185.
