Home invasion robbers strike in Mendocino County

Redwood Valley residents tied up, attacked by two armed robbers|

Mendocino County sheriff’s detectives searched for two armed men who broke into a Redwood Valley home before dawn Thursday and tied up and terrorized a couple.

The couple awoke at about 5:30 a.m. to find two men with handguns in their Colony Drive home, demanding money and drugs, sheriff’s Capt. Greg Van Patten said.

The robbers tied up the couple and assaulted the woman, hitting her with the gun, Van Patten said. She was later treated for her injuries.

Such home-invasion robberies have occurred frequently in the North Bay in recent years and typically involve marijuana. Van Patten said he didn’t believe there were drugs associated with the couple’s home, but marijuana was growing in the neighborhood.
