Aircraft enthusiasts will be shading their eyes and craning their necks today and Sunday at the Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport as the 2014 Wings Over Wine Country air show gets underway.

For the first time, a Marine Corps MV-22 Osprey tilt rotor will make an appearance, displaying its ability to take off vertically, then fly like a plane.

Joining the Osprey will be a host of aerobatic pilots, a parade of old warbirds, plus static displays allowing a rivet-close look at the classic planes.

Rounding out the weekend are demonstrations by the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office helicopter and SWAT team, plus vendors of aircraft and military memorabilia, food and drinks and activities for kids.

The show runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, with gates opening at 9 a.m. For more information, go to wingsoverwinecountry.org.
