With the help of the owner, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office and Windsor Police Department recovered a cargo trailer Tuesday that had been stolen earlier that morning.

The trailer, which contained four off-road motorcycles and other equipment, was taken from a home in Santa Rosa early Tuesday morning, said sheriff’s Lt. Carlos Basurto. After a friend of the owner’s spotted it in Windsor, the owner called the Sheriff’s Office.

The trailer was parked in the front yard of a property in the 6400 block of Old Redwood Highway, partially covered under several tarps. The motorcycles were still inside the trailer, but a compressor and a generator were missing, Basurto said.

Santa Rosa residents Tommy Hitt, 46, and Derrick Lamm, 29, later were arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft and possession of stolen property and booked into the county jail, Basurto said.
