6 drivers arrested on DUI complaints at Santa Rosa checkpoint
Six people were arrested Friday night on complaints of driving under the influence of alcohol as a result of a Santa Rose Police Department checkpoint.
Officers conducted the checkpoint from 7:45 p.m. and 2:00 a.m. on Morgan Street between Third and Fifth streets, specifically looking for those driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs as well as those driving without a license.
The department contends that publicizing such checkpoints beforehand can have a deterrent effect, encouraging people to use sober drivers.
Police officers also cited or arrested 34 drivers for operating a vehicle without a license or while their license was suspended or revoked; arrested three people for outstanding warrants; and cited five drivers for car vehicle violations.
Those arrested for driving under the influence included Lyndsey Johnston, 54, of Santa Rosa; Victor Garcia, 33, of Santa Rosa; Roy Perez, 46, of Fresno; Jay Reiley, 70, of Santa Rosa; George Metge, 64, of Florida; and Daniel Tilado, 27, of Santa Rosa.
