DUI suspected in Sebastopol power pole crash

A driver suspected of being intoxicated hit a power pole south of Sebastopol Wednesday night, knocking out electricity to a lone resident.

Carmine Anthony Marroquin, 30, of Sebastopol, was arrested shortly after the 8:10 p.m. collision in the 3900 block of Hessel Road, according to the CHP.

PG&E crews responded to the area to make repairs to the power lines. Power was restored to the affected resident in about an hour.

Gold Ridge Fire responded to the crash. The driver was able to get out of the car by the time firefighters arrived. He declined medical transport for minor injuries.

Marroquin, who was suspected of being under the influence of drugs, was booked into Sonoma County Jail on two misdemeanor charges, of DUI and possession of opioid pills - a controlled substance. He remained in jail Thursday morning with bail set at $10,000. A court appearance was set for Friday morning.
