Police: Windsor man arrested on suspicion of DUI after crashing into other vehicle, power pole
A Windsor man was arrested Monday on suspicion of driving under the influence after the vehicle he was driving crashed into another vehicle and a power pole in Windsor, police said.
The Windsor Police Department responded at 4:10 p.m. to a report of a two-vehicle collision on Starr Road near the railroad tracks, Sgt. Jeff Toney said in a news release.
Deputies arrived and found a white pickup truck had hit the back of a white sedan, which had two occupants, and then struck the power pole head on, damaging the front of the truck and deploying its airbags.
The truck driver and sedan occupants were not injured.
Deputies noticed the pickup driver, later identified as Daniel Ramirez, 35, was showing signs of being intoxicated as he spoke. Officials conducted a DUI investigation and then detained Ramirez.
Ramirez’s preliminary blood alcohol content was 0.178%, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08%, Toney said.
Ramirez was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County jail on suspicion of driving under the influence and driving under the influence with a BAC greater than 0.08%.
As of Thursday morning he was no longer in custody, according to jail representatives.
