Fake money results in $1,000 Windsor store theft

Windsor police are hoping someone recognizes two suspects in a counterfeit money scheme.|

A man and woman used $1,000 in phony money to steal gift cards from the Walmart store in Windsor, where police are seeking help from the public to catch them.

The two went into the Hembree Lane store Sunday, about 30 minutes apart. They went through the same check-out lane, giving the cashier five $100 bills used to buy gift cards, according to police.

The bills were identically counterfeited, police said.

Windsor police Wednesday released photos of the pair, taken by store surveillance cameras as they left the building. Officers are asking the public to call Deputy Robert Anderson at 707-838-1234 if they recognize them or have any information.
