Petaluma police advise residents in Oak Hill Park area to shelter in place

Police were searching for an armed robber in the Oak Hill Park area on Tuesday night.|

The Petaluma Police Department issued a shelter in place advisory for residents in the Oak Hill Park area Tuesday night as they searched for an armed robber fleeing on foot in the area, according to a Nixle alert and press release issued by the department.

“Police activity for armed robbery that fled on foot in the area of Oak Hill Park. Shelter in place. Avoid area. No action required,” the alert read. The alert was still active at 9:30 Tuesday night.

Petaluma police could not be reached for comment. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
