Mendocino County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 24-year-old woman on suspicion of firing a gun outside a Covelo home and threatening to kill one of its residents.

Jessica Patricia Durazo of Covelo was jailed Thursday after she was found with two guns and ammunition shell casings matching those fired outside the Concow Boulevard residence earlier that morning, the sheriff’s office said.

An unidentified 68-year-old woman called 911 a little after midnight, reporting Durazo had entered the home with a shotgun and threatened to kill one of the woman’s family members. Durazo left when the resident threatened to call police, and then smashed out windows of a vehicle parked in the driveway, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies arrived shortly after and discovered shell casings from a small-caliber gun in the driveway.

Investigators then found Durazo at a Main Street home in Covelo, where they seized the two guns after searching the residence and arrested her on an outstanding warrant for a probation violation, the sheriff’s office said.

Durazo also faces two misdemeanor charges for violating probation. She also is suspected of four felonies, including burglary, threatening to cause bodily harm, and negligent firing of a firearm. On Sunday, she remained in Mendocino County Jail on $87,500 bail.

Anyone with information about the incident should call the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office tip line at 707-234-2100, or the anonymous crime reporting hotline at 800-732-7463.
