Pedestrian hit in Santa Rosa crosswalk

The victim was severely hurt Friday night when a vehicle driven by a 74-year-old man struck him at the intersection of Silva Avenue.|

A pedestrian was severely hurt Friday night in Santa Rosa after he was struck by a vehicle driven by a 74-year-old man, police said.

Police were working Saturday morning to confirm the victim’s identity and could not be reached Saturday evening. Officers said they believed the man is 46 and that he lives in Santa Rosa.

The man was being treated for multiple fractures at a local hospital.

The collision occurred about 10:45 p.m. Friday near Santa Rosa Junior College.

Police said the man was crossing Mendocino Avenue in a marked crosswalk at Silva Avenue when he was struck by a 2011 Toyota Venza driven by Edward Kelleher of Santa Rosa.

Alcohol, drugs and excessive speed are not suspected in the crash.
