Fire destroyed a former chicken barn filled with collectibles Saturday morning on Marshall Avenue northwest of Petaluma.

The 120-foot-long barn was ablaze and the roof was starting to collapse when firefighters arrived shortly after 8:30 a.m., said Capt. Pete Albini of the Rancho Adobe Fire Protection District.

A portion of the barn had been converted to a sound studio, and the remainder was used to store antique furniture, a huge LP record collection, vintage Harley-Davidson motorcycle parts and other collectibles.

“The place was packed full of stuff,” Albini said.

Firefighters assisted from Cal Fire, Rincon Valley, Two Rock, Lakeville, Wilmar and the U.S. Coast Guard facility.

Damage to the structure and contents was estimated at $120,000. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
