Lake County eligible for disaster repair funds

A declaration by Gov. Brown has made the county eligible for almost $1 million to cover costs from the December storm.|

The governor has declared a state of emergency for Lake County, making it eligible for an estimated $900,000 in state and federal disaster funding to help offset costs incurred during the December rainstorms, county officials reported.

The storms brought heavy rain, strong winds, mudslides and localized flooding and power outages to the county. Efforts to clean up and make repairs following the storm cost Lake County and its cities more than $4 million, officials said.

The emergency funds can be used to help clear creeks to prevent future flooding, repair damaged roads and to reimburse agencies within the county for cleanup efforts and other costs related to the storms.
